After removing the adhesive can or jar from refrigeration, stir and shake thoroughly to insure that the uncured rubber which will be in the bottom of the container will be thoroughly mixed and dispersed with the solvent of the rubber.Mixed adhesive should be kept in a closed container. Pour only the amount that will be used within a few hours into a small metal or glass container. Use the adhesive with adequate ventilation.

Caution: Adhesives are Extremely Flammable, Harmful or Fatal if Swallowed, Vapor is Harmful, and is a Skin and Eye Irritant.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The two ends of the O-Ring cord stock could be cleaned with a solvent. Allow time for evaporation, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Use Toluene for cleaning the O-Ring cord stock ends of Neoprene, EP, and Nitrile (Buna-N).
  • Use MEK for cleaning the O-Ring cord stock ends Fluorelastomer and Silicone.
  • If you make clean, uncontaminated end cuts of the O-Ring cord stock and obtain good bond joints, you may eliminate the solvent cleaning of the ends.

APPLICATION of LIQUID ADHESIVES

  • Apply the bonding adhesive to both ends of the O-Ring cord stock, allow to air dry to a dull finish.  Pay particular attention to insuring that the edges of the o-ring ends are thoroughly covered with adhesive.  In some cases, the adhesive will have a wet/dry condition on the ends.  The dry portion will indicate that the adhesive has been absorbed into the rubber.  In this situation, apply a second coat of adhesive.  Allow the ends to air-dry so that the solvent in the adhesive can evaporate.  The ends should have a dull matte finish.  Drying time is approximately 15 to 30 minutes.  Drying time will vary based on room humidity.  Do not touch the 2 cord ends, as finger oils and dirt will contaminate the adhesive.Brushing Adhesive onto Cord End

  • Uncured rubber adhesives are solvent free and are supplied in a spreadable form.   The main advantage of this compound is that it can be used without cleaning the O-Ring rubber cord ends and without drying time.

APPLICATION of UNCURED RUBBER ADHESIVES

  • Step One: Cut the extruded O-Ring rubber cord to the required length.
  • Step Two: Using a small flat spatula, X-acto blade or wooden stick, remove a small amount of uncured rubber from the tray and spread on one end of the rubber O-Ring cord.
  • Step Three: Wearing the gloves supplied, bring both O-Ring cord ends together and position them in the Die-Set and close the die, this will hold the cord in place.  Depending on the cross-section diameter and material type, cure time can vary, usually in the range of  3 to 10 minutes.
  • Step Four: After the curing cycle is over open the Die-Set, which will expose the finished O-Ring.
  • Step Five: Put the finished O-Ring aside to cool, do not flex or stress the bonded joint while still hot.
